1. Rookie Duties Will Pay Off In 6 Months! I’m proud to say that the last 6 months of the free agency season have seen the salary cap swing back in direction, drastically altering the way I think. During this window, teams can—and often do—trade me, add cap space, or opt out of the deal entirely. (The most recent happened during the playoffs.) The tradeoff is permanent. The milestone is visible throughout the timeline. For example, if an OKC player option becomes an asset, the option would become an option for much of next summer. But as the season wears on, the timeline shrinks and the option becomes a liability.
